JEDDAH: King Abdulaziz International Airport has introduced 70 AI-powered e-gates to streamline check-in and departure, enhancing efficiency for 175,000 daily passengers.
Inaugurated by Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region, the e-gates use biometric verification and facial recognition to reduce wait times and eliminate manual document checks. Each gate can process 2,500 passengers per day, easing congestion.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aviation modernization efforts, similar systems have been implemented at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Neom Bay Airport.
The upgrade boosts security and enhances the passenger experience, particularly for pilgrims and tourists during peak seasons like Hajj and Umrah.
